I was surprised to find this club a while back. I didn't know that there were so many homeschoolers either. We seem to be in the minority. :(

I mainly use A Beka Book. for math, I've been using Saxon. has anybody used the DIVE into math cd-rom? I had to use it during the last part of doing algebra 1 because I was doing so badly. my mom prefers A Beka because I know pretty much what to do each day so I can figure out my assignments. *but i don't get away with doing less!*

I got a sticker yesterday that says "Feel free to use big words... I'm a homeschooler." Yayness!

@ Freya-I want a sticker like that! So awesome!

@Padawan-I use Saxon for math, and I also use the DIVE cd-rom. I find it easier to understand then the text. Don't know what I'm using for history this year. I use Apologia for science. *shudders* Physics is this year. I'm also doing something called Vantage Point. I think that's looking at how to think through world views and stuff. Don't know what else is going on.

sounds difficult. I had to take Spanish *same course* twice....hated it and I refuse to speak it unless necessary. Plus the curriculum I was using was pathetic; it was Rosetta Stone and if ANYBODY tells me how great it is, well....they obviously can determine what the differences are on the same picture. Thankfully I dont' have to take another language course this year.

I still don't know what I'm having to take this year...my mom still has to look through my books and figure out what she needs to buy. I dread having to do my English Lit. course though. I know that's one course I have to do. :( I had to read The Scarlet Letter last year and Julius Caesar the year before....hated both of them. Tolkien is about as hard English as I can read. :p

*shudder* Rosseta Stone is awful!I don't find it a bad program, per say. I find it horribly dry and hard to focus on. Unfortunately for me I have to take it my junior and senior year since the computer I was doing it on up and crashed. This means I have to start from the beginning! *bangs head on wall* I hate learning new languages.

It doesn't work for me because they use the same picture but with different verbs, phrases, etc... so it's hard to figure out what they mean. They need an English translation for all slides. :annoyed:

^Or at least use clearer pictures. But when I do get stuck on what something means I go to an online translation. It's not 100% accurate, but it gets the point across enough so I know what picture to click on.

I actually found the book work the hardest, when it was asking you to write out what the picture is of in Spanish. I have a hard time spelling in English so to have me try and spell in Spanish is an adventure to say the least....

Heh, yeah... my French spelling isn't so bad, but in Arabic... wow... It's sooo terrible.

I totally agree with all of you on Rosetta stone.
I tried to do it once...heavy on the once...:eyeroll:
Never again. :yuck:
I'll be a junior this year.
and I still don't know what I'm gonna be doing...wait, scratch that. I do know that I'll be trying vainly to catch up in math. :annoyed: I hate math. Not as bad as some previous years, but it def. isn't on my top favs list... :p

*pops in* *hasn't been here in a while*

I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys about Rosetta Stone, I've been trying to learn French and it's the most helpful program I've come across.

And I will be a senior this year. Haven't looked much at what I'm doing, my mom has it figured out and I've been pretty busy this summer. I'll also have a job in the fall and I'm going to try for a lot of scholarships in order to make paying for university somewhat easier. Pretty busy, it's looking like.
