Aliana Fae and I were kicking around an idea the other day and I think it's time we share it with everyone. How do all of you feel about an AU reunion where we invite old members who aren't so active back. I'm sure many of us still keep in contact with them via Facebook, IM, or email and I don't think it would be hard to get a few people from the old days to come back for a day. I suppose we'd have one thread for it in the Misc. Random. Board, and it'd probably need to happen on a weekend. How about it?

Here's the official list of "oldies" to be invited. Each "oldie" is followed up by an asterisk and the name of the person who can contact them if applicable.

That would be really awesome. I, unfortunately, don't talk to any of them, though, but I would love to talk to all of them again!

I've actually been recently contemplating the exact same thing. :teehee:

I'm still in contact with a few of the "oldies," so I'm sure I could mention it to them once we have details set up.

I think that's a really cool idea, Lar. Having never met the "oldies" before, I obviously wouldn't be able to invite them (;)) but I think it would be awesome to meet them. The only problem for me is that I'm going until Sept 20... :erm: but, I think it's a birlliant idea and that you guys should go ahead with it. :D

This is a great idea. :) I never got to know many of the oldies very well (as I'm relatively new ;) ) but I would love this chance to get to meet them and know them better. :D

This sounds like a great idea! :D although I wouldn't be able to invite any oldies since I'm too new, I would LOVE to meet some of the older, retired members. Sounds like fun to me!

Great idea! One of my regrets is that I never really kept in contact with many of the members who have left since I joined all those many moons ago...so it would be great to see them again! :D

I'm glad our idea got some good responses. :) Now to the planning. How would we like to contact people? Should I organize emails/Facebooks/etc.? Or should I leave the inviting up to those who knew the person? Maybe we should start by making anlist of oldies we'd like to invite back...

There's already an A-U Oldies facebook group for tag oldies, but I'm sure you could make one for Forumers too. Then we can invite whoever has facebook and try to find old friends if we can.

I have quite a few oldies on my MSN, though I haven't talked to most of them in ages. I think sometime when there happen to be quite a few online, we should just invite them all to a massive pow-wow and be like "...Oh yeah, and you're coming back to A-U."

And I see BlueEyedGirl4God (who does still make the occasional appearance) all the time, so I'm sure I could convince her to come back for a bit. :)

Before we go inviting people left and right, what weekend do you think would be a good time for the reunion?

Hm.. well, not this weekend. Too early, and Labor Day, I would say like 3rd week of September. I don't think anything is happening, and everyone should be settled in school then.

You know, the chatroom's hardly used nowdays. It'd be easy to have it in there if you wanted.

Oh, you know, I didn't think of that, Ivy. :) That'd probably be a lot more convenient for everyone as you can pop in whenever you have time. The chatroom it is then.

3 weeks or so from now sounds like a good idea as well. When do you think we should send out invites? We don't want to send them out too early because then people will forget, but we don't want to catch people too late either.
