If you could just give me an announcement warning, it'd be fine.
Or I could just avoid this club at all costs. I think it might be easier for you guys that way, since you'll want to discuss it anyway.

Simon Pegg would have been an utter riot XD I love that man so much.
Though even if he hadn't had that guest role in an earlier series, he may not have been available anyways if the Trek movie is a success (and I'm sure it will be ) he'd be required for sequels I'm sure.
Bobby Carlysle is another excellent choice. I'd heard about the SD: Universe casting, but at the time it was just a rumour. I'm happy for him to be getting a break in such a huge and succesful franchise. But a bit sad that he won't be the new Doctor.
I appear to be in the minority (well gee there's a change XD) in that this announcement of the new Doctor really doesn't bother me. I'm actually very very excited about it, I just hope I'm not let down by the casting choice lol. Though as I said in my earlier post, I'll support the new actor (or actress) and give them the benefit of the doubt.
I have a suggestion for wether or not to post the news in here. Maybe create a thread in the Movies & TV section about it and then the ones that don't want to know don't have to go onto that thread and we can also leave this Club spoiler free.
How does that sound?

that sounds like a great idea. that way we can keep this thread clear of new doctor discussion, so those who don't want to know don't have to avoid the thread. i'm just about to start the thread now, so...
if you want to know who the next doctor is, head over to the movies and tv section.

GAHHHHHHHH.
I'm so torn now between wanting to know and wanting to keep it a surprise.
*tears out hair*
Thanks for moving it elsewhere though.
AHHHHHH. I just can't decide. To know, or not to know, that is the damned frakking question that's eating away at my brain.
ARRRRGH.

I know I couldn't.
This has been good for DW I reckon. The hype alone I mean. Be interesting to see what the ratings were for Confidential. Have to keep checking Outpost Gallifrey to see how it went.

i'm not sure how the ratings will be, to be honest. you'd expect them to be really good, given all the hype there's been, but it was in an odd slot - 5:35 is hardly prime time. i'd have thought it deserved a more prominent place in the schedule.

If they hadn't hyped it up so much in the media and in ads on the tv, I'd not expect too much. But with all the hype surrounding it I'm thinking it might be fairly high, at least for a Confidential.

After that whole thing of me NOT wanting to know, I get a text message from a friend of mine (who I wasn't even aware WATCHED Doctor Who) saying who it was. I through a fit. Not because of who got picked, just because I had tried so hard to keep from finding out.
I actually don't know who he is, so that's the one consolation I have right now. But I really want to like, google him.

I too know who it is, but I don't know him. I havn't seen anything that he's in, so I have no idea how good of a Doctor he'll make. Hopefully a good one though...
Oooo, oooo! I printed off some sheet music! I'm learning to play "Doomsday, from Doctor Who. Here's another (much more talented) person playing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICbYhEmtb6E
I've got the first part down, and the first half of the meledy, but after that I'm having trouble....You see, I can't actually read sheet music, so I have to either play it by ear or ask my mom, brother, or sis, who can actually read sheet music. I'm excited though. It sounds really cool.
So that's my exciting news of the day.

tar-dis - aww, that sucks! at least you don't know who he is, so the surprise isn't totally ruined.
nauriel - that's really cool. i wish i could play piano, but i can't read bass clef and treble clef at the same time. i can read both separately, but reading the two of them simultaneously is just too much for my poor brain to handle! and i'm totally tone deaf, so i can't learn things by ear. it's melodic instruments all the way for me (i play flute and penny whistle).

You know, I'm really unhappy that I can't put up my 11th Doctor banner, but I'm being good... for now...
Tar, your sig has reminded me of something.
Quote: They leave. Because they should. Or they find someone else. And... some of them forget me. I suppose, in the end, they break my heart.
I wanted him to say hearts.

Oh, that's a really good point, Tim. I didn't even think of that. They probably didn't either, which is sad, considering that they're the freaking writers. He has more than one heart, people.

Well currently, I've been totally able to avoid it completely.
And if I'm somewhat clever, I can maybe keep it up.
So yeah ... I'm gonna try. But I highly doubt it'll happen. Worth a shot through, right? (Even though I'm going a bit nuts not knowing)
And I too wish that he had said "hearts," and was somewhat put out that he didn't. One would THINK that the writers were on top of that. Who knows....bah!!

^ good luck with that. i really hope you manage it, because i'm sure it'll be awesome for you to see the new doctor for the first time as he regenerates. part of me would love to have not known, but it just wouldn't be possible here.
as for the "hearts" thing, i agree - the writers should have got that right. i don't think writers need to note every detail of their characters' lives and personalities (who cares what their favourite colour is?) but there are some things they need to know and make sure they get right. the number of hearts a character has is one of them...not that it's usually an issue!

That is a good point about the hearts thing. He has two wonderful beating hearts. <3<3. But maybe the writers kept it that way because when some says their heart is broken, they don't mean it literally. But I do agree, it would have been so much better is he had said hearts. Plural.
