The most amusing scene for me would have to be in A Conspiracy Unmasked, when Frodo finds out that he hasn't been quite as clever and secretive as he had hoped, and that Sam, Merry and Pippin know rather a lot more than he thought they did.
Frodo's reaction is so comical, and he's absolutely flabbergasted. Merry and Pippin are both pleased as punch and Sam's embarrassed and red as a beet. I can't help laughing. |

And when Pippin floods the floor with his bathwater!  Or something to that effect. That is forever my memory of that chapter - Pippin singing and getting water everywhere.
I do have to say that is one of the most lighthearted scenes in the book. It's hard to think of others. I was going to say something about Ioreth and her chatter, and then remembered this was the FotR board. Three is Company is a fun chapter, but I have to agree that Frodo's reaction to everyone - especially Sam - knowing what he was up to is just brilliant. |
