I personally don't think that the Silmarillion will ever be made into a movie. It's too complicated...too much CGI, WAY too many actors to find for each individual character, (think of how many different characters there are in the book! Can you imagine finding/paying an actor for every single one... and then some of them are only in there for ten minutes?), and the thing I noticed most about the Silmarillion is that it is very NON-conversational, which is extremely difficult to deal with when you are making a movie. The whole thing is very narrative, and so making the script would be something akin to a nightmare. Besides the fact that it's such a LONG story...you'd have to make a trilogy just out of that one book! It's just my opinion...I don't know about anyone else's...but I'd say if PJ is going to make another movie, it's TOTALLY going to be the Hobbit.

Naneth in Elvish means "mother". So if your "naneth" wakes you up or calls you down for dinner...well, you get the picture.

yeah, i would love for it to be a movie, but i don't think they could ever make it so it would satisfy the book lovers and also cate really owns the character galadriel and they could'nt replace her ever

yeah i think a Silmarillion movie would be tough. Maybe just a Beren and Luthien movie would be cool. I liked that story. And perhaps having a bunch of Silmarillion tales in a tv series...that's a pretty cool idea, i hadn't thought of that!
If they did make a Sil movie, I couldn't complain - after all, I mean, i can ALWAYS take more middle-earth!!!

I couldn't dream of a possibility of an actuall 'Silmarillion movie', however! I can see it being logically done as a series. Not saying it has to be in the theatres(there's not much initial interest with the book itself), but I mean a mini-movie of each chapter, or as some chapters are smaller than others, combine them with others. But definately not a feature film...
As for cost, I agree it would be a little bit pricey. But, there are millions of Tolkien fans out there, willing to do what it takes....

It would be immensely difficult to make The Silmarillion into a movie, but maybe one day someone could figure out an effective way to do it. I wonder who they would cast for each character...
I do think that Weta would do a fabulous job if they were to make the movie.

it would cost a lot, i would only watch it if peter directed....ok i would still watch it, but PJ would do the best. I think everyone has their own opinoin.
