I'm just curious as to how many have read the Book of Lost Tales, both or either? Or even heard of it? I have both books in my possesion, and finished the second in January. Both are excellent books, and in fact I may like them a tad more than the Silmarillion, they've just got more of an archaic, olden fairy tale like quality too them as opposed to the Silmarillion's 'high' Christianic flavour.

Well, if yo uread the Silmarillion, then the Book of Lost Tales (first two in the HoME series) would be the next step. I warn you, however, it is somewhat more difficult to read than the Sil, mostly because of the archaic grammar. Though once you get past that (and trust me, it's not too difficult) you'll no doubt thoroughly enjoy it.
Astaldo-I'm getting there!

Erm, I won't ask why there are 3 of a kind posts, but as for the other HoME books, I'd say their worth lies in the further knowledge gained from Tolkien's world. The Book of Lost Tales was a more or less abondoned version of the Sil (though many things were transferred to the latter version/s). I've not read them yet, though.

Well I always like the books that give more and more information about Prof. Tolkien's works. These boks are very informative but as Erethror said they are much more difficult to read them because of the archaic word but they are really good. You can see in depth some stories.
