Eä you are not intruding at all! It's nice to have you here
Thank you for the lovely comment on my banners, really appreciate it On the top banner it says "Asatru, troth of Aesír" (the pictures are of Thor, Yggdrasil, Freyja and Iðunn - in that order) and on the second one it just says "Odin" very large as all the pictures on that banner are of the All-Father
And they are not new, I made them a long time ago and had them up here on A-U for a while but decided it was time to display the Gods and Goddesses once again

I made a (crappy-which got a good mark...) statuette of Odin in art class the year before the last. He's an acorn under him, and three behind him In fact, he was the centrepiece of a ceremonial blot!!! for drama class (the same year)! ^_~ I almost forgot about that... And guess what - the plot was that we were metalheads, sacrificing a rapper to the gods lol. Hey, I didn't think of it (all) it was my deathmetalhead friend Greg. We even had some Slayer in the background. We got a good mark for it-alright this is off topic now.
Er... .... Who has read/knows about the Volsung saga? About that hero of Germanic legend (not Beowulf)! Sigurd Fafnisbane! From the slaying and flaying of Otter, to the slaying of Fafnir by Sigurd, and thence to his own tragic end by the command of Bryhild, his love - who doesn't like this tale?! Well it doesn't really matter, but...

I've heard of it..but not read it. I'll need to check that out.
Mind you I've still not even read Beowulf yet...how shameful and embarassing.

I wasn't sure whether your upper banner was new. I know you've had your Odin banner for a long time now. But I've gotta say the other is my favorite, that's why I noticed. But they both have a nice blend and the colors are so lively and warm!
And thanks Eru, I'm glad to be here as well!!

Thank you so much I made them at the same time so they have always been up there together. I spent extra time to make sure the colors on both banners matched perfectly as well as my avatar which is also of Odin by the way

Beowulf? I've gotten through the Grendel episode, and the face-off with his mother. Have yet to read Beowulf's encounter with the dragon. It's a little tedious at first, yes, but I managed alright (some parts were a little confusing; and don't even get me started with the names). And I've only read the Volsung saga in fragments (one time the 'slaying and flaying of Otter', as I call it; the next time the tale of Sigurd slaying the dragon Fafnir, saving Brynhild, then dying-two versions. I've only read the Norse variant; the German mainland variant is a tad not as interesting. Though I'll give Wagner's Der Ring des Niblungenlied a chance...).

oh, funny story about Wagner's Der Ring des Niblungenlied, when i was in Toronto recently, they were playing that and the Lord of the Rings as stage productions. I found it funny because Tolkien took so much influence from Wagner's Der Ring des Niblungenlied...so...i thought it was funny.

Indeed he did! Hmmm, a Ring of Power forged from the Rhinegold...Sought after by the Gods and Giants...Holding the fate of the 9 worlds to it.... But apparently Tolkien also critized the work at some points - how ironic!
