Well, lets say he didn't die. Then he must have gone somewhere.. maybe like, another dimension..? Hmm, doesn't sound really Rowling-like butmaybe Sirius is in another place, that's also why the Mirrors didn't work.

I've heard a lot of talk saying the veil could be like a portal to the afterlife [whatever afterlife you believe in]. What if Sirius is alive in the "afterlife"? Wouldn't Harry be able to go in and save him? Because technically Sirius [and I say again] was not hit with the killing curse when he fell into the veil.

You know, the theory of Sirius still living after falling through the veil IS a valid one. Because he WASN'T hit by any killing curse, as Larael said above. But I don't think that has anything to do with it....it's that bloody VEIL!!! So, for sure, JKR won't leave it just as it is. But I think, I do remember reading something either just after or just before the publishing of the 5th book, she said that he really is dead. It was just something for Harry to cope with, just as everyone else in the world has to cope with stuff like that.
And I'm sorry for being so blunt about DD's death....but in my opinion, that's how it is. He's dead and there ain't a thing in the world we can do about it....*sigh* Oh well...I didn't like DD that much in this book. He was just an old, annoying man in this one....grrr!!!

I agree.. I think Sirius isn't dead either. (I refuse to believe it ) I can't believe that the veil causes Sirius to die. Harry did hear voices (which Luna also could hear..)so in that sense you could think it could be the afterlife. But could you be 'alive'in the afterlife? Don't think so..
So it should be another place..But I'm sure Harry is going to find out what

Aye, JKR definitely won't leave us hanging. She'll have to take Harry back to the Dep. of Myst. sometime in Book 7, and do some explaining, or there will be angry mobs coming after her.
By the way, when do you all think Book 7 will be released?
I've heard summer '07 and I've heard summer '08. Any ideas? I just think summer '07 seems much too soon. If it were true, I think she would have given us a title by now.

All the book publishers have been predicting a summer '07 release, but it just doesn't seem probable now. As I said, she hasn't even released the book title! And, she supposedly just changed it [whilst in the shower!] according to what she said at "A Night With Harry, Carrie, and Gawp" in New York.

What I love is that the very first thing she wrote was the end of the last book. Even before she worked on the beginning or middle of the entire story line, she knew exactly what the last chapter was going to be- she even had it all written and everything.

It's amazing that she could do that, that she had that much information already. It's scary to think that it's been in her head that long. The fate of all our beloved characters is in her hands now.

I know... you just get so attatched... and they're all just a penstroke away from death or happiness... *sob*
Ok, that was a bit dramatic.

No, no, it's absolutely true. She has the power to kill off our favourite characters, characters that some of us [such as I] have grown up with and come to love. Just look what happened with Dumbledore and Sirius. They were two very dearly loved characters and yet they still did not get spared the axe.

^*Tears up thinking of Sirius*
I would cry more for Ron's death than some other real life aquaintances I've made. It's the truth! I feel like I know all the characters in real life, like they're my very good friends.

I hope not either! But I've recently found evidence that could support the theory of his possible death.
In OotP Mrs.Weasley tries to banish a boggart from Grimmauld Place. When Harry finds her crying the first thing he sees is Ron, dead. Immediately Harry panics, and we panic as a reader. What if this was a preview of what was to come?
