Hello, everybody. Okay first of all old business...
I totally agree that Jack is out for Jack. Personlay I don't think that he had a plan to save Will in PotC DMC. I think that so longs as his skin was safe that he didn't care one way or the other what happened to Will. In my opinion Jack Rarely thinks of anyone other than himself even when he is not in a dire situation. Also sometimes he just doesn't think at all. He just acts on impulse. When he doesn't that everyone pays... (shakes head)
Allright new Business...(deep breath)
Did anybody else watch the People's Choice Awards last night? Well, if you didn't here are the high lights, Johnny Depp won favorite male actor for his role in PotC 2 (Orlando Bloom was over look), Johnny Depp won favorite male actor in an action movie for his role in PotC DMC (Orlando Bloom was over looked), PotC DMC won favorite movie, and (gulp) Jack and Elizabeth won favorite movie couple. :explode: (tries to stay calm) Okay...when I say that Orlando BLoom was over looked I mean tyhat he wasn't even nominated. Which is totally mjust stupid. He so deserved to be nominated and in my opinion to win at least one! He totally got snubbed (pouts a little). Then on a diffferent note Sparrowbeth did indeed win favorite couple, I promise I do not lie on this matter. However what I don't know is wheither or not Will and Elizabeth was nominated. What I'm thinking or rather hoping is that Sparrowbeth only won because they were in reality the people's second favorite couple and that they won because Will and Elizabeth wasn't an opition. Though I have no evidence to back that theory up. I have looked for the nominee list but I can not find one that has the nominees for favorite movie couple...please tell me that somebody knows if Will and Elizabeth were also nominated?! I'm desperate to know!

*chokes on juice* jack and Liz? as fave couple? *dies* thats really bad...that'll puff up the egos of the J?E shippers, just what we need, but i think its ok that Johnny won those, he did an amazing job, and Orlando should of been nominated, but we cant change the past...i doubt they were, people are messed up and prefer J and E rather than Will with E...

I just saw it again for the first time since I first viewed it in the cinema many months ago.

It's hard to put my finger on it, but there's something about DMC that is lacking. The opening has always confused me. Why is Elizabeth alone in the rain? Because Will didn't arrive. OK, then so why has no-one gone to find out why he's not arrived? I'm not one for noticing editing and other film techniques but there were moments in this film where the editing annoyed me. The shots of Lizzie in the rain and Cutler Beckett arriving led me to belive that it was happening silmultaneously, and therefore Will was late just....because. When actually he had been arrested many hours previously, word had not reached Elizabeth of this so she was quite prepared to sit in the rain all day.

Yeah, right.

Another thing was the Jack and Lizzie flirting. There had been no hint of any hanky panky in COTBP yet as soon as they were on board it started. Whether Lizzie was doing it on purpose so Jack would do what wanted or not I don't really care. It was totally embarrassing, even more so that she was I believe attracted by him or the danger of his life (but let's face it she'd been living dangerously as well recently). It was like the writers threw the whole scene in just so the ending was Lizzie trying Jack to his ship with a kissy wissy. And all this rubbish about "you'll want to know what it tastes like". Really hate that scene. Jack is out for himself but I think portraying him as coward, and leaving his beloved ship was totally out of character. And then they brought him back, with the sickly sweet "I always knew you were a good man". That's even more out of character!

*pulls out hair*

But apart from that. :P

Nooo! The J/E ship must sink!

I was recently on the forum-that-cannot-be-found-except-by-those-who-know-where-it-is, and they had this poll over J/E or W/E, and J/E was ahead by about 30% :(

*groans* I knew J/E was the preffered ship, but it drives me NUTS. It just proves how... perverted this world is. YUCK. :yuck:

And JF, I agree with you mate.

Every time I'm on the forum-that-cannot-be-found (like once a week) afterwards I curl up into a little ball and make Will/Elizabeth banners, wallpapers, etc. etc. until I've washed all the things the J/E shippers said out of my head. The biggest problem with that forum is that it's overrun by the perverts that are J/E shippers. :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

Omegosh, yes!

I have NEVER, understood that, just yesterday while watching it I mentioned to my friend " I don't understand this scene and I don't like it." I really don't like the opening sequence, it looks out of place, much too dream-like. It just doesn't make sense like that!
Every time the movie starts it ticks me off, and when Beckett comes in on the boats with horses, it seems like a dream! It realyl does! guh...no like-ee.

As for J/E winning favourite couple: i CANNOT believe that. Omeegosh...are you serious!? No! why WHY!?

Thanks Altariel. Glad I'm not the only one who agrees with me.

Yay! Ms. Gamgee I need you to speak to my brother - he was really getting annoyed with me when I said the opening was confusing. It confused me in the cinema, and even now when I can fully take the scene in, it doesn't make sense. The only reason that entire suquence exists is so people can say "aww, poor Elizabeth on her wedding day"...but what's the point of that if later on she's not sure if it's Jack she really likes? And anyway, it's unfair on Will for her to even think he hadn't turned up just because, as he's not like that. He would have been there on time, if he hadn't been arrested.

Jack and Elizabeth? No-no. I'm not a huge fan of Will, whereas I love Jack but even I don't like this pairing. For a start Will belongs with Elizabeth and Jack doesn't belong with Elizabeth. Simple...as....that..

Lol, I'm glad Altariel. :D

Yes, Jack is my hero. He and Norrie are my duel POTC favourites. I don't mind Will but he's not quite up there for me. Jack and Elizabeth just doesn't make any sort of sense, for either party. And poor Will who's loved Elizabeth for so long and it was for her sake he ever sailed the high seas and got into trouble, now thinks that he's been replaced by Jack and the public also seem to think this as well. Muppets. :disgust:

Yeah, that opening sequence it's just...gah....perhaps it'll be soemthing that will make sense later. I dunno, maybe T&T are hiding something in that scene....i have no clue. But I don't think they'd be as silly as to put in an opening shot like that just so people could go "poor lizziiieee" it's not very T&T...so, I hope eventually it'll make sense.

as for the post above me, I hope you dont mind, I know he's your husband and all, but James Norrington is really becoming one of my favourite characters of all time....it's a bit funny, but he's just..gaaahh :p

Or maybe they put that scene there because they knew practically everyone at AU would make a banner out of it.

Yeah..I've noticed lots of Norrie banners popping up, and yet I haven't had time to make mine yet!! Lol, that's Ok. I just think of it as Norrie-awareness. He's never mentioned as "main character" which really annoys me as he's just as important...to me anyway...:P. He's very under-rated.

Inwe Calaelen, Hello. We are allways happy to meet more PotC fans. :-D We're glad to have you here.
Wow, Elizabeth and Jack being voted favorite movie couple has become a huge thing...which is a good thing. Perhaps if we speak out long and loud enough we will ensure that Elizabeth and Will end up together. No offence to any Jack and Elizabeth fans but I really think that I may hate them together. Sadly I must say that the reason that I destest Jack and Elizabeth so much is becuase they are all physical instead of emtional. When was it that we decided to throw out emtionalism for being physical on televison and movies anyway? I can't speak for anybody else but perssonaly I have no inclination to watch such. Give me love over physical anyday and that would be Will and Elizabeth. Well more of Will for Elizabeth the way I see it but still...either way that wouldn't be Not Elizabeth and Jack...I want Elizabeth and Will together...unless Elizabeth keeps fawning for Jack and for whatever reason kissing him...(sigh) Least wise in my opinion. I want romance on my screne and that's that!

Personaly I like the Elizabeth in the rain scene. Though I didn't feel sorry for her....least wise once I watched it for the second and third time. I saw it as Elizabeth getting what she deserved. She went and kissed Jack and she didn't trust Will. Instead she should have been worried about wheither or not Will was okay and that's not the feeling that I got from that scene. To have a breif moment of "is he leaving me" is fine but to actually decide that isn't okay. What she should have done was go out looking for him for his sake Because she should love him enought to put him first.

 Unfortunately, I am guilty there. But my thing is, those are the only pics of Lizzie that I actually like.

The only reason I like the opening sequence at all is because I like the image of Elizabeth sitting in the rain, the teacups filling with water... stuff like that. Other than that I think it was a poorly done scene.

And the bottom line is, I would be SHOCKED if it was actually a J/E ending, so I don't worry too much. Every spoiler I've heard, every quote from cast/crew members, even what the J/E shippers themselves say, points directly towards Will and Elizabeth.

However, this doesn't mean the J/E shippers don't drive me mad. I can't stand them. Like I said, they're perverts. They make me want to scream. Also, they have no idea what they're missing out on! The romance between Will and Elizabeth is really sweet... I don't know why, it just is. Every time I make a new W/E banner or wallpaper, I can't help but think "what in the world are they thinking?"

okay people, im sick of talking about J?E shippers, maybe if thats all we can talk about, we should abandon this thread, we know that it bothers many of you, but they are out there, and nothing will change their minds until AWE comes out, so please, can we talk about something else?

About the opening scene, I found it quite chilling really. With all of the EITC troops landing, standing in formation, marching and everything. It was almost like something from a totalitarian government. To be honest, I was too eager to see Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman that I hardly cared about the other characters.
