We have to do French up to next year when we do our GCSE thingamabobbies. But from Year 6-9 we had to do it, and from year 7 we had to chose either Spanish or German to do. Rock on Spanish

Oooh, I have a question. What years are in primary school and high school? Because here, it's Kindergarten- Year 6 for Primary school, and Years 7-12 for high school. It just sounds like you have a completely different system to Australia (in particular NSW... every school system is different in each state, which is stupid )
And also, here what language you learn depends on what school you go to, and they decide which language is taught. Like my school teaches French, one barely 5 kilometres away teaches Japanese, and many other schools do German, Italian, Spanish, and etc. Strange, isn't it?

For me reception to yr6 was primary school, then 7 to 11 is secondary school, but my school also has a sixth form, so years 12 and 13 are also at my high school (there are sixth form colleges which some people go to) but they are not compulsory.

Same here Darrell. And in our school we learn either French or German and it depending on which tutor group your in. So you don't get to choose. And you'll stick with one language in year 7, if you're in top set by the end of year 7 then you pick up the other in year 8. I wasn't ever good enough to do that, I'm in bottom French set.

5-11 French is compulsory for me, then in year 8-9 you choose two from either spanish, english grammer, or spanish. I choose spanish and latin (as i already have english lessons and i'm top set) then we were told we could quit one subject in year 9 but the entire year tried so we all had to keep spanish for another year. However i have kept latin on into year 11.
