Gibbs! It was so cool! Almost like a scrapbook made by him about the Code! And it had "letters" from Elizabeth, Will and Jack to him in it… I loved it!!! but I didn't get it... it'll just have to wait for another day...
(I'm currently throwing an internal fit because the closest Disney store to me closed down about 8 years ago. )
But anyway, I looked through that book at Walmart. It was cool! I especially enjoyed Gibbs' comments in the margins of some of the pages.
I went to see AWE again last night, and noticed another callback. Remember in DMC when Jack sends Will to the ship that Will thinks is the Dutchman (but is in fact just a wrecked ship)? When he's walking to the boat, Ragetti says jokingly, "Your chariot awaits you, sire!" Well, in AWE Gibbs says "Your chariot awaits you, your highness" to Elizabeth when she's getting off the Black Pearl to go to the island. I just thought that was interesting...

I'm sorry to hear you lost your Disney Store...
I didn't have much time to look through Mr. Gibbs' book (my brother was in a rush ) but what I did see was pretty neat.
Ooo, you're lucky to get to see AWE again! Our theater has it but it's on at 8:30 only and on the weekends it's on at eight thirty and midnight! And my question is 'who goes to see such a long movie at midnight?' Even eight thirty is getting a little late for that movie in my opinion...
anyway, I've noticed that callback too! *high fives* actually I think all the callbacks in AWE are kinda cool (and they're fun to look for and find)... although it's a sad scene when Elizabeth leaves and Barbossa calls her Mrs. Turner and all that...

Aww, thanks. I went to one last summer, before I got heavily into Pirates, and felt kinda stupid. But it was the only thing in the mall that I even wanted to go near...
Yeah, I know, it was kinda fluky too cause my mom didn't really wanna go see it but then my friend couldn't come so Mom just came with me. Fortunately, she liked it - I think my attempts to explain it turned her off of it at first because she said it was less weird than she thought it was going to be. (I did actually go to an 8:30 showing because it was either that or get up for the $4 10:30 one the next morning, which neither of us really wanted to do...)
*high fives back* Nobody's said anything about that one here, so I wasn't sure. Oh, you think the "Mrs. Turner" bit is sad? It made me laugh.

^yeah, going into the Disney Store does make you feel a little childish but it's worth it! And they do actually have more for adults than you'd think... and how do they know you're not shopping for you niece or nephew anyway?
It might be a little late but I can totally understand going at 8:30... if I get desperate enough I'll definitely consider it... I just don't understand why they can't play it at like 4:00 and 8:00 and be fine... oh, well.
I can see where the "Mrs. Turner" scene could be sorta funny but to me it's in a sad way... same with when Pintel says "good-bye, Poppet"

^ I thought it was sad too, because she's leaving the crew possibly forever! It's the end of something that's made a big impact on her life, and I also couldn't help but feel... kind of a sense of loss, you know?
I hate having to go into a kids shop to buy something! I haven't been to a Disney store in ages, but stuff like play-doh for a school project or something. I always try to put on my most uninterested, bored look.
I'm pretty sure my theater's completely taken it out by now... yep, I just checked. You've got to be kidding! Eight times for Transformers and Harry Potter, and no AWE?! That's ridiculous...
Oh, and I did notice that callback! Also, Elizabeth says to Jack "It would have never have worked out between us, Jack." which is the same thing Jack said to Elizabeth at the end of CotBP.

Well, seeing as my brother's only 13, I don't exactly have any nieces or nephews, PD. But I do have cousins... Anyway, the only one anywhere near me is I think either on the other side of the state or in the middle of the city, which I avoid at all costs. How dare they! I love that callback! I want to applaud everytime I see it. None of the theaters I went into had huge Pirate posters, but I did ask Safeway a couple of years ago about a giant Narnia poster. The guy behind the counter said no. And he wouldn't tell me what they did with it either...that annoyed me. If they have a cool DVD poster for AWE I'm totally going to march up to the clerk and say, "Look, here's $20, just gimme the stupid poster!!"

Taurquende, Ahhh I too have worn that uninterested bored look Like most of the time when I go into the Disney Store and it's almost empty so all the workers have time to stare at you…
that stinks that Transformers and Harry Potter have pushed AWE out! I'm afraid our theater won't be long (although it's been looking like that on and off for a while)… but already Shrek is gone and Spiderman has been gone
Lady of Taniquetil, our theater has (or did have the last time we went) this awesome, huge transparent-ish banner of all five walking through the fog… but I haven't asked about it… they probably wouldn't give it up if I did
Our Disney Store had a big, red publicity banner of Jack and one of Barbossa… never asked about those either…:duh:
I think most of the stores' left over stuff either goes up for a silent auction (like a big cardboard banner of Jack, Will and Elizabeth our Wal-Mart use to have), the employees (or their friends) get it, or someone lucky enough comes along and gets it.
Ánië Súrion, but they don't know you don't have a niece or nephew

We don't have any Disney stores here I LOVE going into them whenever I'm in the UK or the US though. It's great to be at that age (23) where you can get all excited about kids stuff again without feeling embarrassed; now it's all nostalgia!
I remember when we went to Disneyland (Paris) 7 years ago. I was 16 at the time and my sister was 18; we were running around the place like little excited kids on Christmas. I think we had more fun than our brothers who were 10 and 8 at the time, haha.
But back on the subject of AWE; I LOVED all the callbacks and salutes back to the first movie (and the second movie too I guess). It made AWE such a perfect ending for the trilogy that way. It all came full circle!

Oh, probably, but bribes will do wonders...

^ That's exactly what I always try to make them believe... "I'm bored and I don't want to be here but I have to because my "baby-sister's" birthday is tomorrow..." when I'm really thinking "Oooo, fun! A Will doll, and it talks!" or something.

Man, I can't wait to be that old! But being in my teens, if I even look at something kidish I always get this look from my mom and weird stares from the employees. I always think "What? It's cute! And it's going to stay cute no matter how old I get!"

that's exactly what it's like! And really the Disney Store has all sorts of cute PotC things I enjoy looking at (even if a lot of them are for little kids... I just think it's fun to see all the things you'd never think of that they have ). All the stuff they have almost make me wish I knew someone that little who liked Pirates.
And then my brother... well, with him he doesn't even want to touch the Pirate stuff a lot of the time... so I'm like "whatever. If you won't buy it then I'll buy it for you and you'll like it! But if anyone asks it's for the "little brother"."
I don't really hate when the workers try to help because I know it's just their job but sometimes when the stores are really empty of shoppers so they all bug to help then it's like... "no, I'm fine. Really."
I love the pic too... but I don't know if we'll go again in time to ask about it... if we do I'll make sure to ask though

PD, Well the only guys that I have ever met only wanted to marry Elizabeth, so I supose that you are most certainly right. However I have met guys before who like Tia's actress...and there are even rumors swirling around that Orli might be dating her...but that is a different matter. lol
It is just way too much fun collecting Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings stuff to stop.
Yeah, they really should make a game like that. I think that I could get my entire family to play with me. However I think that I would almost always win...
Lady of Taniquetil, Oh now that makes more sense. Thanks for explaining. Oh, I know who you are talking about now. Thanks for explaining who he was. That really is very cool.
You are welcome.
Anie Suriong, I totally agree. That the "Mrs. Turner" and the "good bye popet" scenes were very sad. I was in tears by that time but that just made me cry all the harder. It was like a moment for us to realise that that was it...that that was the end of the wonderful thing which is Pirates of the Caribbean (maybe not for all of the characters but at least for some of them...least wise that is what we are seemingly suposed to believe at this point in time)...and I just lost it. (cries)
Taurquende, I use that "I am so bored out of my mind" look too when I am looking at stuff that I am considered way too old for...or act like my mum is not talking to me when she points out Pirates of the Caribbean stuff in the middle of the store. lol I always sneak a look at whatever Pirates of the Caribbean stuff is there though. lol
I have the oppisite problem with the workers. Everywhere I go they are hateful and don't want to help me at all. I am so short for my age (I will be 15 next month and I am only 5'1) and therefore I am unable to reach stuff on the higher shelves. So there I stand literaly climbing up on the shelf, attempting to reach whatever it is, and the workers sit there watching me (or usaly run off). (sighs) Thankfully most of the Pirates of the Caribbean stuff are on the lower shelves. Usaly it is the other shoppers that stare at me because I am looking at Pirates of the Caribbean action figures or books (cough) for example the Force of Will Turner book (cough). They usaly shake their head or give me this "whoa you are wearing that and buying that" look. Then I just want to crawl under something and hide. So I certainy understand why that would embarrass and/or annoy you.
As for what happens to movie posters etc that stores and theatres have...I had my Ada ask once about a Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's chest Will Turner stand up poster in a game/movie store and they said that they just put them in the back room to be stored. They claimed that they don't usaly sell them though. I totally don't understand that. ...I wanted that poster!

Well, I did read that Naomi (the actress) said that Orlando helped her once when she had a cold so now she's like "Oh, okay, you're totally the hot one." but anyway...
The good news is, whenever you watch CotBP it feels like it's just beginning again. I think it was one of the cast members of LOTR that said, "Yeah, our work's over, but the movies are still there. They'll survive as long as film survives." (I have, however, resolved that I will NOT watch AWE when I'm feeling emotional cause I'll cry buckets...lol)
Aww, you're short too? *high fives* If it makes you feel any better, I'm a year older than you and the same height. But usually if I ask the workers at B&N or whatever will help me - I, however, will walk around for 20 minutes looking for something rather than ask for help though. And I do the same thing you do, making sure no one's around before I'll walk over to Pirates stuff. Yay for the undercover fans!
Woah, seriously? That's stupid! Why don't they sell them? Don't they want money?! lol
