Padawan, hello there! :bye2: it's been a long time since I've seen you around these parts. ;) but it's nice to have you back with us... yeah, RL... it seems to be hitting everyone lately. :eyeroll: ;) but it's nice to have you here... more people to talk Pirates with! They seem to be getting rare lately... :'(

lol, that's cool! :-D

Anie, she does? weird... I guess that makes you sort of lucky... in a strange way. :erm: yeah, you better just be very sure she gets the message that the rest of us are innocent. I don't want her fury on me, anyway!

It is too... although I guess for me any movie requires the right mood. ;) Although I guess I've never quite savored it like I was watching it for the first time. ;) that's me... :innocent:  I know... I know... as sad as it is.

hm, I see. Have you ever thought of making them take anger management or something, Pip? :P Because obviously if they're getting into fights it's not good at all.

haha....... darn, I had a good quote in mind to reply to that but I just lost it! :P

I like that! perhaps we should run it past the family? ;)

ok, if you say so then... I'll just have to remember to MAKE SURE you know about these things. ;) I thought you knew... after all can't we read each other's mind? :P uh-huh, and what's that behind your back? :yeahright: Yeah, you're about as innocent as your husband is, you know? ;)

aye, we have discussed that to death, Hector. ;) but there's no hurt in doing it again, I suppose. :teehee: Ummm, at the moment I have forgotten the tracks... oh, wait, they're coming back to me now. I like I Don't Think Now's The Best Time, Up Is Down, One Day, Drink Up Me Hearties Yo Ho, At Wit's End... hehe, that's quite a list I guess... :P

The music is addicting, especially on the COTBP and AWE soundtracks. :-D You guys have probably already discussed this, but what are your favorite parts of the AWE soundtrack. I like "What shall we die for" and "I don't think now is the best time", although all of them are cool.

We have, but that's okay. My favorite parts are "Hoist the Colors", "What Shall We Die For", and "One Day", though I like "I Don't Think Now Is the Best Time" a lot too. :D

Well, we know we're not going to die at sea, that's for sure. ;) But I'll be sure to pass the message along, of course. I think she already knows that, but just to be sure...

Oh, I always do - it just makes it such a great experience each time. Although of course it doesn't quite compare to the theater, but oh well. Uber-profound? Huh, maybe that should be your title. "PD the Uber-Profound!" I know...it's quite sick. :eyeroll:

Well, you know Spidey - he likes to annoy somebody every now and then, and Will's the closest male. :P But I just got a Frodo action figure, so maybe he'll help keep the peace. ;)

Ah, that's okay. Sooner or later you'll have some great quote and I won't have a thing, just you wait. ;)

Good idea! Or we could just add it to the thread title and see how long it takes them to notice. :P

Naturally. I'm an Omega-level telepath, don't you know. ;) Or maybe that's you...either way. :teehee: *passes gold off to Ragetti behind her back* Nothing! See, look! *holds up empty hands* :innocent: :P "Ah, for future reference, I'm as innocent as the day I was [born]." ;)

It is hard to pick which ones are the best on that soundtrack. It's not like the DMC one, which only has a few good tracks.

The only downside to the "I Don't Think Now Is The Best Time" track is that it cuts a lot of the final battle music out. >:( In my opinion the perfect thing they could have done would be to start that track at when the Pearl starts to go toward the maelstrom, and go through Beckett's death, with nothing cut out.

I think so too...I mean, the soundtrack is kind of short. There's only like an hour's worth of music on there, or maybe not even that. I know about 80 minutes fits on a CD, so they still had a good chunk to spare - I would've liked to have more of the final battle's music, like you said, Hector. That's some really great work by Hans and the musicians there...pity we don't get to have it except in the movie itself.

i noticed that too. for some reason i hate it when soundtracks flip the music. in "I Don't think now is the best time", the two halves are switched :guilty: and i wish it had the little tune when Bootstrap is about to cut out Wills heart. it's got some nice choir-sound worked into it.

I agree, it is annoying when they switch the order of the music. Overall though, I can not complain about the soundtrack. It is pretty cool as is. :)

Anie, no, I probably won't be dying at sea... at least I hope I won't be. ;) but thanks for passing the message along. ;) yeah, she might know it, but she's sorta weird like that. She likes hurting people for no reason or something... :yeahright: or maybe that's just pirates? :P

maybe next time I watch it I'll have to treat it like that too. :P actually I must admit that I've only seen LWW 2 times anyway. but still.... eh, no, nothing ever quite compares to seeing a movie in the theater. A new title? Really? :teehee: "PD the Uber-Profound!" I like it. lol

yeah, I guess it only makes sense... :P hm, but hopefully Frodo will be able to be a good role model for them or something. OR maybe you should try to be a good role model for them. ;) or maybe you should put Lizzie between them. :teehee: I dunno... but you know what? I've noticed that in my PotC action figure display of 5 of the charries (Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Barbossa, and Beckett... I haven't put up any of the others I have) Beckett always somehow mysteriously gets shifted back to the back with Jack. :yeahright: I kid you not, somehow they move around. :hide: (although I think I know a logical reason why they do... it's still weird to wake up in the morning and have him somehow shuffled back by Jack. :P)

ummm, if you say so... personally I think it's impossible. lol you are "Teh Great Quote Master" after all. ;)

except how could we do that since neither of us started the thread? :erm: but it would be funny... especially for those who have joined but aren't necessarily PotC fans. :teehee:

no, no, I think that would probably be you. lol I'm pretty sure I'M not that. ;) yeah, somehow I just don't believe you, Pip. Rags, what're you holding behind your back? :yeahright: this better not be any funny business... :P you must've not been very innocent when you were born then. ;) (I kid, I kid...)

I know what you guys mean about the soundtrack. it is a shame and I'll never quite understand why they didn't put it all in. :erm: unless a lot of the cut stuff was taken and twisted from other tracks and such to form some of the Last Stand music. they might've done it like that... where they only put the brand new stuff in for each track, you know? or didn't that make any sense? Or maybe it was just Disney being stupid again... :eyeroll:

muahahaha, ah yes, LoT, the scene where Bootstrap cuts Will's heart out is amazing! I LOVE the music! :punk: it is too bad it wasn't in the actual soundtrack... :erm:

That very well might have something to do with it PD. Some of the last stand music is from COTBP. However, other parts of the music were never in the first two, nor did it appear in the third one. >:( I would also like it if they had added the music where Will gets stabbed, as well as when the Dutchman pursues the Pearl in DMC and AWE.

Aw, I'm so out of the loop! :duh:

Anyway, my latest favorite on the soundtrack is definitely "One Day." :D It's just gorgeous! I do agree with CB that they cut out way too much of the movie.

Speaking of AWE music, have any of you seen the special feature about Hans Zimmer on the DVD? I just love seeing what's going on in the mind of such a great composer. And the crazy instruments (and non-instruments!) they brought in.

I have seen bits and pieces on that feature, never the entire thing though. :erm:

I just remembered that they made a special soundtrack that has some music on it, that was not in the AWE soundtrack. "Marry Me" has all the variations of Will and Elizabeth's love theme, including the music from when Jack and Elizabeth are leaving the Dutchman on the parachute. :-D

You are right, Hector... so most likely it was probably just Disney going stupid on us... again. :eyeroll: ah, oh well... I guess that just means we Pirates fans have to watch the movies to get our amazing, one-of-a-kind score fix. ;)

Taur!!! It's wonderful to see you... you really should stop by more often. ;) but anyway, huzzah! "Drinks all around!"

Speaking of the "One Day" track I should see if there is something for it on the net so I can play it on my guitar... I've checked once before but maybe I didn't look hard enough.... or if I was really adventurous I could see if I could figure it out myself. :erm:

and about the special feature about Hans Zimmer... :headwall: I've hardly watched any of those for AWE, sadly. :erm: I think I saw parts of the one about the Multiple Jacks and that scared me enough to never pop the special feature disk in again. ;) hm, but I should watch it sometime... it sounds great! :-D thanks for jogging my memory, Taur. ;)

Ah, and here's the link, CB and everyone else, to the special track, Marry Me. :P It's got some great Willabeth stuff on it....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ot8P18th4s&feature=related (pt 1... about 2:40 minutes into this one comes the music from when Jack and Lizzie escape the Flying Dutchman... :'( so sad... but I LOVE it!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=856vGOaYpWc (pt 2)

hope you guys enjoy! :-D

@ CB... Oh, I'll definitely keep an eye out for that, then. :D

@ PD... I'll try! I'm so busy lately though... all I really have are weekends! In fact I really should be working now, but Pirates are so much more interesting than Chemistry. :eyeroll:

Yeah, sheet music is usually hard to find on the internet. :erm: I bet you could figure it out by yourself, if you give it enough time. :)

Shame on you, PD. ;) No, it's all right! :) It took me a while to get through all of them too. But I would definitely recommend the Hans Zimmer and the Anatomy of a Scene: the Maelstrom. :D They actually built the entire Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman, put them on some kind of hydraulic system so they would move and rock like a ship would on an ocean, and then rained on all of it and filmed! It was pretty impressive!

Also, something else for everyone to think about...
Barbossa's piece of eight was a false eye, so he gave it to Ragetti to use and keep safe. Key words: he gave. So when Barbossa died, wouldn't Ragetti then become a pirate lord? :erm:

Hm, interesting thought Taur. It would seem at first thought that Ragetti would be a pirate lord now, but perhaps there is a difference between giving it to keep safe and passing it on. :confuzzled: If Ragetti was pirate lord, then doesn't it seem like he would have to give it back to Barbossa, and then die, for Barbossa to regain that status. I am not sure how someone coming back from the dead would affect all of that. Maybe since Barbossa did not stay dead the passing it on was null. :P

I don't know, what do you think mates.

Thanks, CB. :D

But the only reason Tia Dalma brought Barbossa back was because he was a pirate lord, and the only one who could set her free. If Ragetti became a pirate lord, she wouldn't have had to bring him back. So I guess I can only agree with you that there must be a difference between keeping it safe and passing it on. (I just find it curious that Ragetti didn't become a pirate lord! I mean, he had it! He had it when Barbossa died. Barbossa gave it to him. So it would seem to me that Ragetti would technically be a pirate lord! Which would just be cool. :D ;)) But yeah, I guess we don't know all the rules involved in pirate lordship hierarchy. :P

Taur, I know, I know... and don't stress out about it. It's just nice when you can stop by. even if you can only stop by on the weekends. It all counts. ;) (of course Pirates is. :teehee:)

I probably could figure it out eventually... although it's a daunting task to think about. Hans was trully brilliant and I know I could never compare or even attempt to master much of what he did. :P

lol, never fear! Teh PD actually did watch the Hans Zimmer special feature and the Hoist the Colours one a few days ago. :-D And I must say it is pretty impressive to see what they did with the music in AWE. :notworthy: Hans was genius. And I love how he went about doing all of it with Gore and all his musicians. Such talent. :swoon: even Gore has some talent... I never knew it was him playing an electric guitar for the Parlay scene. :P I've seen parts of the Anatomy of a Scene: The Maelstrom too... not to mention I read a lot about it in my Bring Me That Horizon: The Making of Pirates of the Caribbean book. ;)

Interesting disscussion... I've wondered about that before too, Taur... :erm: hm, Ragetti as a pirate lord though... what an interesting thought. lol but I suppose there must be some difference between passing it on and keeping it safe, as you two have already discussed. I dunno... maybe the writers didn't even think about that little detail! :P

OOH watching him play that guitar for Parley was AMAZING. it's really fun to watch. all the music is amazing. i love the soundtrack as is as well. all the music reminds me of a florida road trip me and my friends took .we took footage of potc scenes on the beach and everything. it's so funny to watch and recap! :P and it fit perfect b/c AWE had just come out a month before
